and margin. To replace a departing colleague, we are looking for an experienced
Retail Account Manager, with around 50% focus on the German-speaking
market (DACH)
.

Job Description

As a Retail Account Manager, you are the face of SCALA towards our physical
retail partners: from (regional) chains and buying groups to independent
specialty stores. You build long-term relationships, negotiate shelf space and
promotional calendars, and ensure flawless in-store execution—from planograms
to POS materials.

You work
closely with colleagues, visit customers on a regular basis, and also travel to
our headquarters in the Netherlands from time to time.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, grow, and acquire new physical retail customers.
  • Negotiate annual agreements, terms, shelf space, product launches, and promotions.
  • Translate category insights into planograms and merchandising guidelines, ensuring perfect in-store execution.
  • Coordinate trade marketing and POS materials (displays, promotional activities, instore activations).
  • Plan and deliver product and sales training for store teams.
  • Conduct store visits for shelf audits, competitor checks, and on-the-job coaching.
  • Analyse customer performance data and identify opportunities.
  • Represent SCALA at trade fairs and retail meetings.
  • Work closely with marketing, supply chain, and product development to maximise retail success.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a commercial field.
  • Proven experience in retail account management or key account management.
  • Excellent command of German (C1/C2 or near-native is a must) and fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.
  • Strong negotiation skills and hands-on execution on the shop floor.
  • Experience with category management/planograms and trade marketing is an advantage.
  • Analytical mindset; proficient with Excel/BI and reporting.
  • Driving license (B) and willingness to travel ~25% of the time.
  • Proactive, results-driven, and relationship-focused personality; comfortable in a dynamic, international environment.
